Gcore and Qareeb Data Centres have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for digital infrastructure in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Qareeb, a Middle East-based Edge data center provider, will deliver Gcore's solutions to the GCC market, which spans Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Gcore's artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and Edge products will be integrated with Qareeb's data center platform, as part of plans to meet growing demand in the region.
"Partnering with Gcore aligns with our vision to drive digital innovation across the GCC region," said Annemarie Van Zadelhoff, chief strategy officer at Qareeb Data Centres and senior advisor EMEA at datacenterHawk.
"With the data center market experiencing rapid growth, particularly in the demand for local Edge colocation facilities, this partnership provides a strong foundation for our ambitious expansion across the Middle East while delivering advanced AI and cloud computing solutions to meet the shifting needs of organizations today and into the future."
"We are thrilled to partner with Qareeb Data Centres to deliver cutting-edge AI and cloud services to the GCC," added Fabrice Moizan, chief revenue officer at Gcore. "Together, we will empower businesses with robust infrastructure solutions, driving innovation, economic growth, and technological advancement across the region."
The MoU was signed at the Touchdown Middle East 2024 conference, and shortly follows Gcore's announced joint venture with Ezditek in which the two companies aim to develop an AI factory in Saudi Arabia within an Ezditek data center.
Qareeb Data Centres describes itself as a "leading Edge data center operator based in the Middle East."
The company says it is deploying multiple Edge data centers across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, and Jordan with an initial capacity of more than 50MW.
Earlier this month, the company signed an MoU with Batelco to develop a "White Space Data Centre" in Bahrain as part of Beyon Group's Data Oasis, expected to be Qareeb's first data center.
Gcore is a Luxembourg-headquartered Edge AI cloud provider. In July of this year, the company raised $60 million in a Series A funding round.
In October 2024, Gcore announced it had signed on as a customer at Telia's data center in Helsinki and would be deploying a GPU cluster with more than 1MW of compute capacity at the facility. In total, the company has 180 points of presence worldwide.
