France Télévisions, Radio France, France Médias Monde, and TV5 Monde have partnered with Thésée Datacenter to assist with their transition to cloud solutions.
The migration aims to make the media companies more resilient against the risks of cyber attacks, reduce the environmental impact of broadcasting activities, and to "accelerate" the transition to cloud solutions.
Thésée Datacenter is a Tier IV Uptime Institute Design-certified data center located in Aubergenville, France.
The data center was inaugurated in July 2021; at the time the site totaled one building with 6,000 sqm (64,500 sq ft) of floorspace across two rooms. The company aims to eventually build six data centers at the site. It has an operating PUE of 1.2 or under, utilizes free cooling, and is powered by 100 percent renewable energy from partner EDF.
The facility is also CISPE certified, ensuring data is stored and processed in the European Economic Area.
"This partnership with Thésée Datacenter demonstrates, once again, that France Télévisions, within TAP (Public Audiovisual Technologies) knows how to seize opportunities for collaboration. We share the same commitments to energy efficiency and ecological transition while remaining committed to technological excellence," said Frédéric Brochard, director of Technologies and Information Systems at France Télévisions.
"We are honored to support public audiovisual stakeholders in their transition to a responsible digital infrastructure. At Thésée, we make it a point of honor to combine technological excellence and respect for environmental commitments," added Antoine Fournier, president of Thésée Datacenter.
France Télévisions has been working with TVU Networks to help transition its content production workflows to the cloud since August 2023, according to a report from TVTechnology.
