Announced in a recent LinkedIn post, the company said: “This move represents Empyrion Digital’s first major investment in Southeast Asia following its establishment in Singapore in 2021.”

Located in Bang Na, the TH1 facility will span 9,960 sqm (107,210 sq ft) and offer connectivity to all fiber providers in the city.

The company said the facility will be optimized for AI and cloud workloads and will achieve a low PUE.

The company’s fifth facility is expected to be ready for service by Q1 2027.

Mark Fong, CEO of Empyrion Digital, said: “We are excited to expand into Thailand, a rapidly growing market in Southeast Asia. With additional growth coming from Greater Bangkok and the Eastern Economic Corridor, our central presence in Bangkok aligns with our strategy to be where our customers want to be.

“This investment further reflects our nimble approach in capturing growth from new markets in tandem with our customer’s evolving requirements. We will continue to seek opportunities in Southeast Asia in lockstep with our customers.”

Empyrion announced it was expanding into Taiwan earlier this month and currently operates a 7.7MW data center in Singapore.

In September, Empyrion announced it would be expanding into Japan with plans for a five-story, 25MW data center facility.

Bangkok is currently home to operators such as NTT, STT, True IDC, and Telehouse.

Etix Everywhere invests 1 billion baht in Thailand

Etix Everywhere has announced it will invest 1 billion baht ($28m) in Thailand to strengthen its data center footprint.

Announced in a recent LinkedIn post, the company said the investment has enabled it to acquire the remaining 33 percent of shares in its Bangkok#1 facility.

The 33 percent of shares previously belonged to Interlink Telecom Plc. Details of this transaction were not shared.

In addition, the operator is planning a new 2MW expansion at the facility to support the surging demand from international cloud and AI providers.

This will bring the facility to 4.7MW of IT capacity.

“This milestone underscores our commitment to the Thai market and our dedication to meeting Southeast Asia’s growing data needs,” said Louis Blanchot, CEO of Etix Everywhere.

Etix Everywhere and Interlink set up Etix Itel Bangkok Co, a joint venture responsible for operating the Bangkok#1 facility, in 2023. This marked the company’s first project in Thailand.

Etix Everywhere also operates small Edge facilities in Belgium, France, and Colombia.
