Deutsche Telekom has confirmed that one of its top technology chiefs will leave the company by the end of this month.

In an announcement earlier this week, DT confirmed that Abdu Mudesir, member of the board of management for product and technology at Deutsche Telekom, will leave the company at his own request.

Mudesir will take on a new professional role abroad, though details on this particular job have not been disclosed. He will leave Deutsche Telekom on March 31, 2026.

His request to leave the telco was approved by the company's supervisory board by mutual agreement.

Mudesir joined Deutsche Telekom in 2018 as VP of vendor strategy and 5G technologies. He was only promoted to the board in October after spending more than three years as group CTO.

He joined the carrier from Chinese vendor Huawei, where he spent nearly six years. Prior to this, Mudesir spent a couple of years at Altran. He was also previously an intern at Siemens.

About our shared ambition to create the best experience for our customers," said Mudesir on LinkedIn.

"Yes, we have achieved a lot together, from accelerating fiber rollout, strengthening our mobile network leadership to digitize Germany, to unlocking new potential with AI-driven innovation. But what truly made the difference was how we did it: together."

Deutsche Telekom noted that its chief financial officer, Dr. Christian Illek, will take over Mudesir's role on an interim basis until a successor is found.

"This ensures continuity in a key area for the Group. Deutsche Telekom's strategic orientation remains unchanged. The implementation of the priorities in products and technology will continue seamlessly," noted Deutsche Telekom.
