Deutsche Telekom has expanded its partnership with Google Cloud, with the US hyperscaler set to host the company's 5G core.

The two companies have partnered for several years, and in 2021 they teamed up to develop a German Sovereign Cloud.

Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems will manage and operate Google Cloud services in Germany, ensuring it complies with data sovereignty regulations.

The expanded partnership will see the two companies pilot several network services such as 5G Standalone in Austria, as well as remote packet gateway functions, leveraging Google Cloud and Google Distributed Cloud Edge.

Deutsche Telekom will also roll out Google Cloud network analytics tools. Deutsche Telekom will pilot several use cases regarding anomaly detection, performance counter, and trace data in a first step in utilizing data-driven operations and automated workflows with open, Kubernetes-based solutions offered by Google Cloud.

The German telco will also trial Google Cloud’s data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions in a joint proof of concept.
