Latvian telco Tet has launched a new data center outside Riga.

The company this week announced it has completed the first phase of construction on DC7, a new data center outside the capital city in Salaspils, and the facility has entered operations.

First announced in August 2024, Tet broke ground on the 10,000 sqm (107,639 sq ft) DC7 in June 2025. The first phase totals 840 sqm (9,041 sq ft). The second phase is scheduled for completion by 2028.

“The opening of the new data center is planned for November this year,” says Uldis Tatarčuks, CEO and chairman of the Board of Tet. “We see that the demand for secure and high-performance digital infrastructure is growing faster than ever before. The new data center will not only allow us to expand our service capabilities, but will also provide companies and organizations with the opportunity to develop modern digital solutions right here in Latvia. This is an investment in both technological development and the country’s future competitiveness.”

The project’s website states that 112 racks will be built by 2026, and the remaining 112 racks by the end of 2028. The company is investing a total of €30 million ($34.9m) in the project.

Waste heat from the liquid-cooled facility will be transferred to Salaspils Siltums, a local utility company, which will supply it to residents in the area.

Tet (formerly Lattelecom) currently operates six other data centers, all of which are located in the vicinity of Riga. At full buildout, DC7 will be the largest facility by number of racks.

The Latvian state has a majority stake (51 percent) in Tet, with the remaining 49 percent belonging to Telia, a Swedish telco. Tet previously acquired Telia’s Latvian business in January 2022. Telia is in the process of selling its stake in Tet to the Latvian state, Latvenergo, and LVRTC.

Latvia’s data centers are clustered around Riga. The capital is home to competitors including Delska, SigmaNet, and Standart AG.
