Baltic operator Delska has topped out its 10MW data center in Riga, Latvia.
The project has seen more than €30 million ($32.5m) of investment. It is expected to house up to 1,000 racks across a 6,000 sqm facility, and is reportedly expandable to 30MW.
Plans for the facility were first announced in May 2022, with completion scheduled for Q4 2024. This has now been pushed back to August next year.
The data center will be entirely powered by green energy and rely on backup generators using Neste MY diesel. It is expected to be Uptime Tier III certified and one of the 20 LEED-certified buildings in Latvia.
"With the establishment of this data center, we are fully prepared to deliver the required space and power capacity, especially when power-demanding AI tools have seen a significant increase and Europe is lacking required power and data center capacity," said Andris Gailitis, CEO of Delska.
Delska is formed of two companies, DEAC and Data Logistics Center, which merged earlier this year. Both companies have been part of the Baltic Rezo group, owned by Swiss Quaero European Infrastructure Fund II and managed by Quaero Capital since 2020.
Between them, the companies operate two sites in Riga, Latvia, and eight sites across Lithuania. The company is also planning a ninth site in Lithuania, but details have not been shared.
