APAC data center developer DayOne has signed the biggest Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in the Indonesian market to date.

The company signed a 450MW PPA with state-run utility PLN Batam to power its under-development data center campus in Kabil, Batam. The PPA will be delivered via the grid, with power supply delivered in phases between 2026 and 2027.

DayOne is currently developing a data center at the Kabil Industrial Tech Park (KITP) in Batam, Indonesia. The data center is expected to have a similar capacity to the PPA signed, however exact details on its capacity were not shared. DCD has reached out for further information.

In addition to the PPA, the two firms inked a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) covering connectivity and electrical infrastructure services for DayOne Kabil Industrial Tech Park.

According to DayOne, the agreement is part of a broader multi-campus strategy within Batam and seeks to reinforce the island’s role as a growing digital infrastructure hub in Southeast Asia.

Our continued expansion in Batam, from NDP to KITP, reflects the growing importance of the island within our broader regional platform, including our proprietary SIJORI model connecting Singapore, Johor, and Batam into an integrated, cross-border data center platform in Southeast Asia,” said Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne.

DayOne is the former international business unit of Chinese data center firm GDS. It rebranded as an independent company last year.

The company’s portfolio currently comprises more than 500MW of data center capacity in service and under construction, and more than 500MW held for future development across sites in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia (Johor), Indonesia (Batam), and Japan (Tokyo).

The company recently broke ground on a site in Thailand and another in Singapore. In August, it made its first foray into markets beyond Asia, announcing a campus in Lahti, Finland.
