American cloud and colocation provider DataBank has acquired PNC Bank’s data center in North Fayette Township near Pittsburgh, PA.

PNC Bank will remain the facility’s anchor tenant and will hold the lease on a long-term basis.

“We chose to partner with DataBank because of their operational expertise and dedication to customer service. PNC is excited to be working with DataBank as a long-term partner,” commented Frank Walters, SVP and COO, Realty Services at PNC.

The North Fayette Township site marks DataBank’s second acquisition in the Pittsburgh area and brings the company’s global data center count up to 19.

Last year DataBank doubled the size of the nearby Nova Place facility, adding 10,000 square feet (929 sq m) of white space and 1.5MW or power supply.

The three-story North Fayette data center totals 115,000 square feet and, as part of the long-term lease, PNC Bank will occupy the entire second floor.

DataBank will expand the facility's power and cooling systems to accommodate additional tenants on the third floor, and provide an incremental 25,000 of rentable square feet (2,323 sq m) and 2.75MW of 2N power.

PNC Bank is the eighth largest commercial bank by assets in the US, with over 2,000 branches across 19 states.

“We are thrilled to be able to expand in the incredibly innovative and growing Pittsburgh market with PNC as our anchor tenant in our second data center location,” stated Raul K. Martynek, CEO of DataBank.

“We believe there is a shortage of high quality, enterprise-grade colocation options in the market and this new Pittsburgh facility will meet that need. We look forward to serving PNC Bank’s data center requirements and those of similar enterprises in the area.”
