Robert Fourqurean joined AWS from the British Embassy in Washington, DC, where he held the position of policy advisor for energy and climate. He had spent more than three years in the position. Before that, Fourqurean held roles at the Clean Energy Leadership Institute and Third Way, where he focused on clean energy systems.

At his new role, he will be based in the Washington, DC - Baltimore area.

Reflecting on the move on LinkedIn, Fourqurean wrote: “On Friday, the US State Department sent me a letter accepting my departure from the British Embassy. Today is my first day as Manager, Energy Policy at Amazon Web Services (AWS)! Excited to get to work.”

AWS has signed several major energy deals in 2026. Most recently, the company teamed up with American Electric Power (AEP) to explore the deployment of almost 960MW of small modular reactor (SMR) capacity in Indiana.

The company also inked a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Constellation Energy for 690MW of nuclear power from the Calvert Cliffs Clean Energy Center, located in Lusby, Calvert County.
