Australian pension fund Aware Super is reportedly investing $300 million in the Vantage Data Centers’ Asia Pacific business.
The investment was made alongside DigitalBridge through Skyline JV, a joint venture data center business that owns Vantage Data Centers APAC.
The investment means that Aware Super, which is Australia’s third-largest superannuation fund with over $200 billion in assets under management and 1.15 million members, will own a minority stake in Vantage APAC.
According to Vantage’s website, its APAC business operates nine data centers across five regions: Malaysia, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Last year, Vantage raised $1.6 billion for its APAC expansion, with investment from Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
Vantage previously received $1.6 billion in investment in its EMEA business from another Australian pension fund, AustralianSuper.
In 2023, Aware Super invested in US-based data center operator Switch as part of a partnership with DigitalBridge. At the time, Aware Super said it was growing its portfolio of digital infrastructure investments.
Aware Super’s total investments in digital infrastructure sit at more than $4 billion, which is more than a quarter of its total $14 billion infrastructure portfolio.
