KAustralian data center company Viridis secured a site in Sydney for a 0.8MW data center.

Announced yesterday (April 20), the site is “located in metropolitan Sydney... within 15km (9 miles) of the Sydney central business district,” and the data center will be built to Tier III specifications.

Designing and building the facility will cost AU$8 million (US$5.7m) and will be managed by Oper8, a modular data center business that Viridis acquired back in 2025.

Viridis estimates that construction will commence in 2026 and begin commissioning in late 2027.

Viridis Green Data Centres is a data center provider based in Australia that focuses on renewable data centers. It has a presence along Australia’s East Coast, and data centers in development in Townsville, Brisbane, Hunter Valley, and Adelaide.

The company recently secured approval for the development of a 1MW facility in the city of Burnie, Tasmania.
