Australian data center firm DXN has won a new contract to supply a prefabricated modular data center to an airport in Melbourne, Victoria.

The firm this week announced it has been awarded an approximately AU$4.1 million (US$2.9m) contract by Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd (APAM), the operator of Melbourne Airport, for the supply of a prefabricated Edge data center facility.

APAM has tapped DXN to supply a prefabricated Edge data center facility. The pod will form part of APAM's Airport Development Plan, Information and Communication Technology (ADP ICT), and will support critical ICT infrastructure at one of Australia's largest aviation and freight hubs.

The pod will be delivered to Melbourne Airport by the end of H1 2027.

Shalini Lagrutta, DXN's managing director, said: "Melbourne Airport is precisely the kind of Edge site where our model delivers the most value. Critical ICT infrastructure needs to sit close to the operations it supports, and it must be delivered without disrupting an airport that runs around the clock. Being selected by the operator of one of Australia's largest airports is a strong endorsement of DXN's capability to deliver complex, mission-critical infrastructure for major infrastructure owners."

DXN has also secured an additional ~$1.6 million variation order to an existing contract with satellite operator Globalstar, reflecting additional project fees and logistics costs under its existing contract with the firm.

DXN has delivered more than 100 modular data centers to date. Customers include logistics firm DP World, AngloAmerican, gold miner Newcrest in New South Wales, Stanmore Coal, as well as Boeing, Covalent Lithium, Pilbara Minerals, and satellite firm Globalstar. The company has previously delivered a number of cable landing station modules.
