4iG-owned One North Macedonia (One Makedonija Telekomunikacii), has secured its position as the third mobile carrier in the Balkan country.

It comes as North Macedonia's Agency for Electronic Communications (AEK) confirmed that One has been awarded spectrum to provide 5G services during a tender this week.

One has obtained spectrum in the 700 MHz, 1,800 MHz, and 3 GHz bands. The carrier was the sole bidder in the public tender for a third mobile operator.

Parent company 4iG officially registered a subsidiary in North Macedonia back in 2024, paving the way for its entry into the market.

North Macedonia is currently served by T-Mobile and A1 Macedonia, while Lycamobile, an MVNO, also provides budget plans.

The Hungarian company already has a presence in the Balkans market, in Albania and Montenegro.

Back in 2023, the group completed the merger of its Albanian telecom units ALBtelecom and ONE Telecommunications to create ONE Albania.

4iG acquired Vodafone's Hungarian operations in 2022.
