The Israeli-backed company Albania Data Center (ADC) will develop a 32MW data center in a free economic zone near Tirana, Albania's capital.

According to Israeli outlet Globes, the 4.5 acre facility will cost around €100 million ($118m) with the potential to expand up to 100MW. It will be situated in TEDA, a newly established free economic zone located northwest of Tirana.

Globes reports that the facility will be used by Albanian tech company Infosoft, an unnamed German storage company, and an unspecified Albanian government client.

ADC has been eyeing a data center in Albania since last March, which is when the company made a LinkedIn post about the data center’s signing ceremony.

The company has also claimed that this will be Albania’s “first-of-its-kind” data center, but Data Center Map lists four existing data centers in Albania, all of which are also located in or around Tirana.

Little is known about ADC, which only has a LinkedIn page and no website. Contrary to its name, the company seems to be owned by two companies affiliated with or based in Israel. These are Happy Technologies, about which little is also known, and DIT, an IT consulting company.

It is also unclear whether ADC has developed or managed other data centers.
