The company this week announced it has broken ground on its new facility in Ankara.

First announced in September, the data center is set to total 22MW and go live in 2028. Full details of the facility haven't been shared.

Digital is developing the data center alongside Turkish investment firm Rönesans Infrastructure.

“Strategically positioned at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Türkiye represents an important new chapter in the growth of our global platform, helping businesses access the connectivity and infrastructure they need to thrive,” the company said.

Paula Cogan, MD and head of EMEA at Digital Realty, added: “Today’s groundbreaking ceremony in Ankara, Türkiye is a reflection of the long-term commitment and investment we have for our EMEA strategy at Digital Realty.“

Rönesans Holding is a Turkish contracting and investment company founded in 1993, with operations across construction, real estate development, energy, industrial facilities, and health.

Under the two companies’ joint venture, the pair are also targeting a development in Istanbul. The JV could eventually reach 200MW and up to $3 billion.
