DCD>Debate: Is it time to admit that sustainability programs are just greenwashing?
Despite the conversations around decarbonization, zero-carbon emissions, and emission goals, should we question if data centers are taking meaningful action, or if it's all just PR spin.
Data center numbers are increasing and resource demands show no signs of slowing. When there are conversations around reopening coal plants to meet the energy demands from data centers, is this not a sign that the industry is heading in the wrong direction?
This debate will question data centers' progress with issues such as heat reuse, natural gas use, and the effectiveness of current decarbonization strategies. We will confront some hard truths and see if there is still time to create a truly sustainable data center. Is there still time to adjust course to create a true decarbonization journey?
Held under Chatham House Rule, DCD>Debates are open discussions led by a panel of experts, on the biggest issues to face the industry.
