At Verizon, we’re focused on applying best practices to improve the efficiency of our facilities, including data centers, which are especially energy-intensive. By implementing better cooling technologies at our sites which can be as large as 107,000 sq ft, we achieved a significant improvement in PUE and a reduction to 1.28 in 2017. Across our facilities, we make extensive use of economizers, which bring outside air into the HVAC system when it is cooler outside than in, thereby decreasing energy use.
