NTT Com will build a 194,000 sq ft data center campus near Jakarta, Indonesia.

Located in an industrial zone 30km east of central Jakarta, the four-story 45MW ‘Indonesia Jakarta 3 Data Center’ (JKT3) campus will be the first project announced by NTT’s new subsidiary NTT Global Data Centers. It is expected to open by the end of 2020.

First outing for NTT GDC

The new subsidiary was announced late last year and focuses on data center construction, asset management and wholesale colocation in the US, Europe and APAC regions.

NTT Com itself is a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) - the largest telecommunications company in the world by revenue, part-owned by the Japanese government.

The company has acquired several subsidiaries in the past few years including European hosting and colocation provider e-shelter, managed service provider Secure-24 and American data center operator RagingWire, among others.

Yesterday, NTT Com announced that e-shelter had completed the first phase of its latest Frankfurt data center, the company’s fourth data center site in the city and its 12th in the EU. Once fully built out, the campus will cover 24,000 sq m (258, 300 sq ft) and have a power capacity of 80MW across five data center buildings.

Just last month, AWS announced that it will be opening its first cloud region in Jakarta, by early 2022. The region will contain three availability zones, each with its own data center.
