Varun Mehra
Technical Lead for Data Center Flexibility, GoogleVarun serves as Technical Lead for Data Center Flexibility as part of the Advanced Energy team at Google. Since joining in 2022, Varun has spearheaded piloting, building, and deploying demand response capabilities through data centers' IT load. To increase available grid capacity and improve power system utilization, Varun has focused on extending demand response to Google's ML infrastructure. This requires external coordination between grid partners and Google energy procurement, as well as internal engineering development across Google's data center planning and operations teams. Varun has previously worked in electric vehicles, VPPs, and micro-grids, and holds a dual MS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Technology & Policy from MIT and BS in Mathematics/Economics from UCLA.
