Called the AIDC Prefabricated Container Solution and launched at MWC Shanghai 2025, the container can support either 8kW air-cooled general computing cabinets, or 40kW liquid-cooled AI computing racks. It also supports "dual-mode computing in one box," which combines the two.

According to ZTE, the containerized offering can operate with a PUE of 1.15 by incorporating a chilled water wind wall, cold and hot aisle separation, and cold plate liquid cooling with free cooling.

The containers are prefabricated in a factory, and once delivered to the site, can be assembled "like Lego building blocks." ZTE estimates that delivery can be completed in as little as seven months.

ZTE is typically known for its telecoms offerings, including 5G. The company has partnered with U Mobile, Italy's EOLO, and SLT-Mobitel in recent months for 5G network upgrades in various locations.

In February this year, Japanese ISP Optage launched liquid-cooled containerized data centers equipped with GPUs for AI training, with plans to deploy in Mihama-cho, Fukui Prefecture, by the end of 2026.
