Texas gas solutions provider VoltaGrid plans to supply Oracle with 2.3GW of natural gas capacity to support the energy demands of the cloud provider's artificial intelligence data centers.

Natural gas will be supplied through Energy Transfer’s midstream pipeline network. The power infrastructure will be provided via VoltaGrid’s proprietary power platform. The platform was developed in conjunction with INNIO Jenbacher and ABB.

The Qpac platform is a modular natural gas power system, with each reciprocating node generating up to 20MW of power. The partners say the nodes can be combined to deliver up to 200MW of prime power under a minor source air permit. It was officially launched in January of this year.

According to VoltaGrid, the deal will expand manufacturing capabilities in both the Dallas and Houston regions, creating more than 400 new job opportunities.

VoltaGrid has signed several notable energy supply agreements with data center firms. In February, the company partnered with Vantage Data Centers to deploy 1GW of off-grid natural gas generation across its North American portfolio.

Last August, it agreed to supply the Elon Musk-owned xAI Memphis data center with 14 mobile generators, each capable of providing 2.5MW, giving it an additional 35MW of power capacity.

Oracle has signed several agreements with power providers to supply power to US data centers. In July, it signed a deal with fuel cell developer Bloom Energy to deploy its fuel cell solution across several data centers in the US.
