Latin American fiber firm Ufinet has launched a new data center in Panama City, Panama.
“Ufinet in its 25 years celebrates a new achievement in the Panama branch, the inauguration of the new Ufinet Transistmica Data Center, which has Design Tier III certification,” the company said on LinkedIn this week. “With this new location and infrastructure, the telecommunications sector in Panama is once again promoted, providing new interconnection and availability options.”
The facility is Tier III certified by Uptime and certified Rated 3 ANSI/TIA-942-B. Facility specifications weren’t shared.
The facility was opened this week by country manager José Quintas García, commercial manager Lisbeth Valenzuela, and CTO Robinson Gutiérrez Gallego, with government officials and Ufinet customers also in attendance.
Ufinet was founded in 1998 by Spanish gas and energy company Union Fenosa. It merged with Gas Natural’s GNF Telecom in 2009 and was acquired by investment firm Cinven in 2014, with Enel owning a minority stake since 2018.
The company owns more than 90,000km of fiber across Latin America. The company operates a Tier III certified data center in Guayaquil, Ecuador known as Ciudad Digital via its Nedetel unit.
