US independent power producer Treaty Oak Clean Energy has closed financing and commenced construction on two solar projects in Louisiana tied to long-term offtake agreements with social media giant Meta.

The Beekman Solar project in Morehouse Parish will have a capacity of 185MW, and the Hollis Creek Solar project in Sabine Parish is slated to have a capacity of 200MW. Both projects are expected to achieve commercial operations in H1 2027.

The company inked the offtake agreement with Meta in October of last year. Under the terms of the deal, Meta will purchase the environmental attributes generated by the facilities, with the energy generated fed into the local grid.

Meta is currently developing a 2GW data center campus in Louisiana. News of the development, dubbed Hyperion, broke back in November. In December, the firm announced its intention to construct the mega campus on 2,250 acres between the municipalities of Rayville and Delhi, about 30 miles (48.2km) east of Monroe.

The campus is expected to be powered primarily by natural gas, with local utility Entergy announcing that it would fund new power generation and transmission infrastructure to support the data center.

Following the Meta deal in November, Treaty Oak signed a 100MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google to supply power from its Redfield Solar Project in Grant County, Arkansas.

Under the terms of the PPA, Google will act as the sole offtaker for a period of 15 years. The power generated is expected to support the company’s data center portfolio across the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region.

Based in Austin, Texas, Treaty Oak has a total development pipeline of more than 17GW of solar, wind, and battery energy storage across the US. The developer is a portfolio company of Macquarie Asset Management's Green Investment Group.
