Google has signed a 100MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Treaty Oak Clean Energy (TOCE) for power from the Redfield Solar Project, Grant County, Arkansas.
Under the terms of the PPA, Google will act as the sole offtaker for a period of 15 years. The power generated is expected to support the company’s data center portfolio across the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region.
“Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on,” said Will Conkling, director of clean energy and power at Google. “This collaboration with Treaty Oak Clean Energy will ensure a steady supply of reliable, affordable, and clean energy for our data centers, resulting in a stronger grid and healthier future for Arkansas.”
The 100MW solar farm covers a 1,033-acre plot and has a target operational date in Q3 2026. TOCE broke ground on the project in March and is expected to create around 200 construction jobs during its development.
Through our agreement with Google, we continue to demonstrate our ability to deliver profitable projects that meet the evolving needs of corporate and institutional energy buyers, while also providing lasting economic benefits to our local community partners,” added Rohit Ogra, co-founder and chief revenue officer of TOCE.
Google has one planned data center in Arkansas. In September, the search giant was confirmed as the company behind a project in West Memphis, Arkansas.
In October, it was reported that US utility Entergy Arkansas would power the facility, with Google covering the full energy costs. In addition, Google also committed to pay rates to support the construction of a new 600MW solar project, tied to a 350MW Battery Energy Storage System, located in Jefferson County, Arkansas.
The deal with Google is not TOCE’s first with a major hyperscale offtaker. Late last month, the company announced a PPA with Meta tied to two solar projects with a combined capacity of 385MW in Louisiana.
Based in Austin, Texas, TOCE has a total development pipeline of more than 17GW of solar, wind, and battery energy storage across the US. The developer is a portfolio company of Macquarie Asset Management's Green Investment Group.
