Liquid cooling firm LiquidStack has launched a new cooling distribution unit (CDU).

NYSE-listed Trane Technologies and LiquidStack this week announced the release of the latter’s CDU 2.X platform, described as an “architecture-agnostic coolant distribution unit” designed for AI infrastructure.

“Operators need cooling infrastructure that can adapt as GPU platforms and rack densities evolve,” said Scott Smith, general manager of LiquidStack, Trane Technologies. “CDU 2.X combines the performance and flexibility customers need today with the headroom to prepare for what comes next, allowing them to configure cooling around their facility and deployment strategy rather than designing the facility around the CDU.”

Able to offer 2.5MW of cooling capacity at 4°C (39.2°F) ATD, with 3,750 lpm at 3.5 bar of available head pressure, LiquidStack said the CDU 2.X features an ultra-low-harmonics VFD architecture designed to address harmonic distortion at the source, reducing the need for additional power-quality components and simplifying system architecture and deployment.

The CDU features flexible configuration options, including control valve, power-feed, and redundancy options, with dual-feed A/B and automatic transfer switch options. The CDU offers approach temperatures and facility inlet temperatures up to 45°C (113°F).

The LiquidStack CDU 2.X is available for pre-order now, with shipments beginning in the second quarter of 2027.

Founded as Allied Control in 2013, LiquidStack offers both single- and two-phase liquid cooling solutions and has developed its own cooling distribution unit. It also offers prefabricated modular cooling solutions for Edge applications.

Trane acquired LiquidStack earlier this year.
