TNF Pharmaceuticals has entered into a licensing agreement with laser-based computing startup LightSolver for exclusive use of the latter’s laser-based processing units (LPUs) for cryptocurrency and blockchain applications.
TNF also plans to change its name in accordance with its new venture, the company said.
Founded in 2020 by Ruti Ben Shlomi and Chene Tradonsky, Israel-based LightSolver has developed the world’s first pure laser-based processing unit (LPU) that LightSolver says is poised to outpace and outperform quantum and supercomputers.
Its LPU100 system utilizes all-optical coupled lasers that require no electronics to compute and combines the company’s all-optical LPU hardware with an algorithmic processing layer to provide ultra-fast results for problems with up to one million variables.
The system is around the same size as a traditional desktop computer; it looks similar to a standard server and operates with low power requirements and at room temperature.
TNF said that when applied to cryptocurrency applications, LightSolver’s technology can be designed to reduce energy costs by up to 90 percent and offer a potential pathway to fully sustainable infrastructure.
“We believe LightSolver has created a disruptive computing paradigm that opens a new world of light-speed computation,” said Joshua Silverman, TNF’s executive chairman. “Our new partnership with LightSolver gives us exclusive access to quantum-inspired LPU-based systems capable of unlocking unprecedented performance and sustainability for the cryptocurrency industry.”
He added that in addition to the new partnership with LightSolver, TNF is also in late-stage discussions with a tech infrastructure and crypto mining expert to lead the development and commercialization strategy for the licensed technology.
“With LightSolver, we believe we are positioned to capitalize on the strong momentum behind both photonic computing and the future of cryptocurrency infrastructure,” Silverman said.
LightSolver CEO, Dr. Ruti Ben-Shlomi, said: “With LightSolver’s LPUs, we believe compute-intensive combinatorial and physical problems can be solved at the speed of light—orders of magnitude faster than other methods. At the same time, crypto infrastructure is still using outdated tools that aren’t tailored for crypto applications. We are excited to partner with TNF to develop what we believe to be the first light-based computing system to blockchain.”
In addition to the partnership announcement, TNF said that it has also entered into a securities purchase agreement for a $7 million private placement financing, including the sale of 7,000 shares of newly created Series H convertible preferred stock. This has a stated value of $1,000 per share, convertible into shares of its common stock following receipt of the requisite stockholder approval and accompanying common stock purchase warrants.
TNF said the securities purchase agreement is expected to close on or about September 4, 2025, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
