Three UK has experienced a network outage today that has impacted its voice services.
The issue has left thousands of its customers in the UK unable to make or receive phone calls. Data services have been unaffected by the outage.
Downdetector noted that the issue peaked this morning around 9:30am GMT, with more than 9,500 reporting issues with the network.
That figure has since dropped to around 5,000 at around 2pm.
In a statement on X, Three said it's working to restore the services affected on its network.
"We're aware of an issue affecting voice services and are working hard to fix it. Data services are working normally, so calls can be placed via third-party messaging apps. We're really sorry for any inconvenience caused," said Three in a statement.
The problem has also impacted Three's MVNOs, including iD Mobile.
DCD has contacted Three for more information.
Three suffered a similar outage in January, which also impacted its voice services but not data. The telco previously had a network outage in February of last year which impacted around 13,000 people.
Three confirmed to DCD that a technical issue at one of the company's data centers was to blame for a network outage in December 2023.
Earlier this month, the company completed its long-awaited merger with Vodafone in the UK.
First announced two-and-a-half years ago, the deal will create the UK's biggest mobile network operator, with an estimated 29 million customers. It also consolidates the number of network operators from four to three.
As part of the merger, Vodafone will own 51 percent of the company, while Three will own the remaining 49 percent stake.
