Tencent Cloud has opened four new data centers in Asia and Europe.
The Chinese cloud company this week announced the arrival of four new data centers in Bangkok, Thailand; Frankfurt, Germany; Hong Kong; and Tokyo, Japan.
The new facilities have enabled second availability zones for Bangkok, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, and a third for Hong Kong - all of which show up on the company's infrastructure pages.
“The cloud industry is quickly evolving and growing, making Tencent Cloud look forward to further demonstrating its commitment to provide customers with more diverse cloud products as well as stronger redundancy and backup options,” said Poshu Yeung, Senior Vice President, Tencent Cloud International. “The launch of the new IDCs [Internet data centers] in Bangkok, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, and Tokyo at the same time is a significant development in our strategy to rapidly and efficiently expand our international portfolio.”
The company said the new facilities have been built to Tier-III standards and are located in prime network hub locations, and are BGP integrated with major local and international network operators.
Yeung said the company was planning to grow its global data centers by more than 30 percent by the end of this year
Tencent has 24 availability zones outside of mainland China, plus another 23 inside China. In April the company opened its first Indonesian data center in Jakarta, and quietly launched a third availability zone in Singapore. The company said it working on opening a second location in Indonesia and is also developing a data center in Bahrain.
