Telmex is building a new data center in northeastern Mexico to meet the digital needs of industrial sectors in the northern strip of the country.

“By 2026, we will put another data center into operation in northwest Mexico, which strengthens our data network nationwide and prepares all industries and sectors for digital evolution and information technologies,” Héctor Slim Seade, CEO of Teléfonos de México (Telmex), said this week.

Details on the location and specifications of the new facility weren't shared.

Telmex, through its data center unit Triara, has facilities in Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro, Guadalajara, and Cancún, totaling 74,000 sqm (796,500 sq ft).

Oracle hosts its Mexican cloud regions in América Móvil-owned Telmex facilities.

Telmex is investing $25 million in a new domestic submarine cable that will connect the territory of Baja California Sur with the rest of the country through a 383km fiber optic network.
