Saudi Telecom Company’s (STC) IT services subsidiary has signed a SAR 1.4 billion ($371 million) contract with oil giant Saudi Aramco to develop high-performance computing infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

According to Economy Middle East, the one-year agreement will support Aramco’s Upstream Supercomputers Project, a major initiative to process vast amounts of data for oil and gas exploration, reservoir analysis, and geological modeling.

Under the agreement, STC Solutions will deliver an integrated model including infrastructure, software, and managed services. It will deploy two HPC systems that will work together to process large amounts of data.

It has not been stated where the HPC clusters will be deployed, what hardware the systems will use, nor the expected compute performance of the clusters.

Omer Abdullah Alnomany, CEO of Solutions by STC, said that the agreement aligns with the company's focus on digital platforms for operational efficiency and growth in AI and high-performance computing.

Arabian Internet and Communications Services Company (Solutions) is an information and communication technology services provider. It offers system integration, cybersecurity, connectivity, outsourcing, cloud, and other managed services. STC owns 79 percent of Solutions.

STC and Aramco have a long-established strategic relationship. STC and Aramco partnered in 2021 to acquire a 55.4 petaflops Cray supercomputer, dubbed Dammam 7. The supercomputer is located at a Saudi Aramco site. A second supercomputer was deployed by Aramco in 2022, Ghawar-1.

In September 2025, Solutions signed a five-year framework agreement with Aramco for a large-scale digital computing infrastructure project. The contract involves providing the oil company with several different types of digital computing infrastructure servers and installing the equipment and accessories in Aramco’s data centers.

Featuring Intel Xeon Gold 6248 CPUs, Nvidia Tesla V100 GPUs, and InfiniBand interconnection, the system is being used by Aramco to search for new fossil fuel reserves by processing large geophysical datasets.

State-owned Saudi Aramco is the world’s largest oil exporter and one of the largest companies by revenue. The company has previously tapped Armada to deploy Edge data centers at its locations.

STC and Solutions previously signed a five-year, SAR157.6m ($42.02m) contract in June 2025 to build a private cloud as part of a ‘IT infrastructure modernization and hyperscaler partnership’ project, and in 2024, the two signed a SAR142.4m ($37.97m) contract to increase capacity on the telco’s network to accommodate the growth in RAN services.
