Blue Owl Capital-owned data center firm Stack Infrastructure is reportedly considering the sale of its Asia operations, in a transaction valued at more than $30 billion.

Reporting from Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, revealed that the company has had conversations with prospective advisers about the partial or full sale of its Australia, Japan, and Malaysia assets.

No final decisions have been made, and considerations are still in preliminary stages.

The companies did not provide comment to Bloomberg.

Stack Infrastructure was created in 2019 by investment firm IPI Partners through a merger of assets originally belonging to Infomart and T5. IPI was acquired by Blue Owl Capital in 2024.

The company first announced plans to expand into APAC in 2021. According to Stack’s website, it operates multiple data centers in APAC: one in Malaysia (216MW), two in Japan (114MW), and three in Australia (792MW).

Last month, Stack’s owner, Blue Owl Capital, imposed a cap on withdrawals from two of its key funds following a surge in redemption requests totaling $5.4bn, with investors trying to take back 21.9 percent of Blue Owl’s $20bn Credit Income Corp fund and 40.7 percent of its $3bn tech lending fund, according to The Guardian.

Firms like Blue Owl are suffering from a recent market downturn, leading some investors to pull back from risky investments that are particularly exposed to AI advancements.
