US advanced battery manufacturer Solidion Technology has announced a new Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system for the artificial intelligence data center market.

The Peak Series - short for Power, Energy, Anode, Knowledge - will incorporate the company’s silicon-carbon anode 5500 battery cell into a modular format for data center operators.

According to the company, the Peak UPS will have a up to 30 percent lower physical footprint, lower maintenance cost, last up to three times longer than conventional battery systems, and, due to simplifications, a lower overall project cost.

A UPS is a type of power system that provides backup power instantaneously when the primary source fails.

"AI data centers are among the most demanding and fastest-growing segments in the global power infrastructure market," said Jaymes Winters, CEO of Solidion. "Our Peak Series directly addresses the industry's need for compact, efficient, and sustainable backup power solutions, enabling customers to support the exponential power demands of AI workloads."

The company has said it expects the product to be commercially available in Q1 of 2026 and is currently in discussions with select data center operators regarding potential integration and testing.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, Solidion is a battery manufacturer focused on developing next-generation batteries for energy storage systems and electric vehicles for ground, air, and sea transportation.

Several other companies have announced new UPS systems to cope with the unique demands of AI data centers. In May, Eaton launched a new UPS, dubbed ‘9PX Gen2.' The UPS supports 5-11kW, taking up 4U of space.
