Eaton has launched a new uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system for data centers.
Dubbed ‘9PX Gen2,' it supports 5-11kW, taking up 4U of space. This is the second generation of Eaton’s existing data center UPS, the 9PX.
A UPS is a type of power system that provides backup power instantaneously when the primary source fails.
Christophe Jammes, Eaton DPQ product line manager, said that it would deliver efficiency of up to “97.2 percent in the 11kW unit thanks to innovative silicon carbide (SiC) components that not only use less power and therefore cut energy bills but also put operators one step ahead in emissions reduction.”
Jammes added that the UPS is compatible with C14 and C20 power cords because of its C39 outlet, which combines both sockets into the same unit.
The UPS also comes with a network card, enabling remote configuration.
Founded in 1911, Eaton is an American electronics manufacturing company.
In May, it announced a partnership with Nvidia to build power systems for racks offering more than 1MW of capacity. It also acquired power enclosure maker Fibrebond for $1.4bn in March 2025, with the deal expected to close in the third quarter of 2025.
