Humain, the newly announced AI venture from Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, is partnering with Amazon Web Services.
The two companies will invest some $5 billion to build an 'AI Zone' in the Kingdom, which is separate to the cloud provider's existing $5.3bn region, set to come online next year.
The new zone includes dedicated AWS AI infrastructure and servers, and UltraCluster networks for both training and inference, alongside AWS services like SageMaker and Bedrock, and AI application services like Amazon Q.
Humain plans to use the zone to help develop AI solutions using AWS technologies for its end customers. The two companies will work together on the development of a unified AI agent marketplace, including AI software for the Saudi Arabian government. It will also be used to help develop Large Language Models (LLMs), including Arabic Large Language Models (ALLaM).
The announcement comes alongside a $10bn deal with AMD to develop data centers in Saudi Arabia and the US, as well as a 500MW deal with Nvidia, and an inference partnership with Groq.
Rival cloud provider Oracle also this week committed to invest $14bn in Saudi Arabia over the next 10 years.
