Qatari data center firm Meeza has signed a hosting agreement with an undisclosed “global hyperscaler” to provide 6MW of capacity at its facilities.
The company this week announced the signing of a 6MW leasing agreement with a unnamed global hyperscaler.
The deal, signed with one of the “fastest-growing cloud service providers in the world,” is valued at more than QAR 750 million ($205m).
Work is currently underway on the first phase, which will deliver 6MW of capacity dedicated to supporting cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and big data processing applications. Subsequent phases will expand to reach a total capacity of 44MW in the coming years.
Mohammed Ali Al-Ghaithani, Meeza CEO, said: “Our collaboration with one of the world’s fastest-growing Cloud Service providers is a strong testament to MEEZA’s continued pivotal role — not only in accelerating Qatar’s digital transformation plans but also in reinforcing its position as a trusted destination for global investments, technology infrastructure, cloud computing, and digital transformation.”
Meeza has five data centers in the Gulf state, having launched its fifth in 2022. The M-VAULT 5 facility is located in the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) in Doha and was completed just a year after the inauguration of its fourth data center M-VAULT 4, also located in the technology park.
In 2023, the company announced the successful completion of an IPO, after floating 50 percent of the company’s issued share capital on the Qatar Stock Exchange, having announced plans to go public earlier that year.
Earlier this year, Meeza secured a QAR 800 million ($219.3m) Commodity Murabaha bank facility from Dukhan Bank to fund 44MW of data center capacity.
The colo firm signed a 4MW hosting contract with an unnamed “major hyperscaler” earlier this year. Microsoft is a known customer of Meeza.
