Power management company Claros has raised $30 million in a seed round to fund the development of products that aim to make data centers more energy-efficient.
The round was co-led by venture capital firms General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners and saw participation from Systemiq Capital, Aero X Ventures, Trenches Capital, and more.
Claros’ flagship project is its integrated voltage regulator, a type of electronic device that is placed beneath or on a chip and used to maintain a stable voltage.
The company claims on its website that the integrated voltage regulator reduces “power losses by up to 30 percent” when compared to a typical voltage regulator, which is placed beside the chip.
Claros has currently fabricated three designs for the product, with a fourth to be submitted for fabrication this spring.
The company is also behind Power Gateway, a direct current power distribution platform.
Claros was founded by Dan Kultran, who now serves as its CEO. Kultran was previously the CTO of Epirus, a drone defense company that manufactures a variety of high-power microwave systems that can disable drones at short and long ranges.
