Qatari telco Ooredoo has launched an AI cloud offering in the state.

The platform is based on Nvidia Hopper GPUs, and hosted in data centers within Qatar.

Ooredoo has not shared how many Hopper chips it has deployed, nor whether the chips are H100s or H200s. DCD has contacted the company for more info.

"We are proud to bring this world-class AI infrastructure to Qatar, equipping our customers with the tools they need to turn ambition into real-world solutions,” said Sheikh Ali Bin Jabor Al-Thani, CEO at Ooredoo Qatar.

He added that the partnership with Nvidia will enable wider AI use for a variety of customers. “This, in turn, will fuel economic growth, upgrade citizen experiences, and cement Qatar’s position as a digital leader in the region.”

Ooredoo, as an Nvidia partner, further offers its customers access to the Nvidia AI Enterprise platform.

The AI cloud platform is run by local data center provider Syntys, which was spun out of Ooredoo in March of this year following an investment from Iron Mountain.

Syntys' website does not detail its data center footprint, but prior to the rebranding, Ooredoo Group had 26 data centers in operation across Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq, and Tunisia. DataCenterMap lists four Ooredoo data centers in Doha, Qatar.

At the time of launch, Syntys said it has the ambition to scale its data center capacity to more than 120MW with an initial capital of $1 billion – further details weren’t shared.
