OpenAI has launched a new cloud-type offering enabling customers to get AI compute directly from the source.

The company has revealed "OpenAI Guaranteed Capacity," providing access to its OpenAI models.

According to the OpenAI website, the offering will "Guarantee long-term access to OpenAI compute for the products, agents, and customer workflows that matter most."

Noting that "OpenAI has made long-term investments in infrastructure, partnerships, and capacity planning to help customers scale compute as demand grows," the AI lab will enable customers to select between one to three-year commitments, with discounts increasing based on the length of the contract.

Since launching its Stargate initiative in January 2025 with the aim of investing $500bn on AI infrastructure over the following four years and targeting 10GW of capacity, the company has rapidly expanded its owned data center footprint and cloud leasing activities.

Earlier this month, the company claimed to have surpassed its goal of 10GW of AI capacity ahead of schedule, though it should be noted that the 10GW is contracted capacity, rather than live capacity, with OpenAI only claiming to have ended 2025 with 1.9GW of compute capacity, according to CFO Sarah Friar.
