NXN Datacenters has invested €60 million ($65m) in the development of a data center in Valencia, Spain.
The Nethits Telecom-owned company will build a data center - dubbed NXN-VLC1 - in the Vara de Quart Industrial Park, according to a report from Datacenter Market.
The project, expected to be operational by 2026, will provide 6MW of IT capacity across 5,000 sqm (54,000 sq ft) of space, including 1,500 sqm (16,000 sq ft) of IT space.
The company said its facility will be the largest within the Valencian community.
Rafael Garcia Rico, CEO of NXN Datacenters, said: “The company has made a significant investment in recent years to make this project a reality for the Valencian community.”
Javier Salas, president of NXN Datacenters, added: “The demand for reliable, scalable, and sustainable data infrastructure has never been greater. Southern Europe, with its strategic location, its ability to attract talent, and its growing digital economy, is poised to become a key player in this global transformation. We believe that there is no better place than Valencia for this first step in our strategy.”
The company said the location is a link point with North Africa, Southern Europe, Portugal, and the American continent.
Founded in 2023, NXN Datacenters was launched by Nethits Telecom Group to cover international demand in locations lacking digital infrastructure.
DCD previously reported that Nethits Telecom had been looking to build a data center in Valencia since 2021. The company’s initial plans were abandoned when Nixval put forward plans in 2022 to build a data center in the same vicinity.
In July 2023, Valencia’s city council dropped plans to develop a data center in a docks building at the port.
