Nigerian data center firm Rack Centre has appointed Lars Johannisson as its new CEO.

Johannisson joins from French outsourcing firm Teleperformance, where he was CEO for sub-Saharan Africa. He has previously held roles at technology holding firm YNV Group, solar company SolarNow, and telecoms OEM Ericsson.

Rack Center was founded in 2012 and acquired by investment firm Actis in 2020. The company operates one campus in the Ikeja area of Lagos, Nigeria. The first building totals around 1.5MW, while the company is working on a second, 12MW, building that is set to launch in Q2 2024.

Actis was acquired by investment firm General Atlantic earlier this month.

Ayotunde Coker, now CEO of Open Access Data Centers, was CEO of Rack Centre from 2014 until 2022. Former Global Switch managing director Lankhorst has been group CEO since 2021 and lead’s Actis’ "pan-African data center platform."
