Netrality has announced plans for a new data center in Shawnee, Kansas.

The company this week revealed it had acquired 7801 Nieman Road. This will be Netrality’s second data center in Kansas; it currently has one data center in Kansas City at 1102 Grand Blvd. The company acquired the 156,117 sq ft facility in 2012.

The new data center spans 172,000 square feet with 2MW of capacity currently available. An additional megawatt will be delivered during Netrality’s first phase of development followed by another 3MW during phase two.

Reports that Netrality was expanding in the city surfaced last month after it applied to Shawnee City Council for $36 million in federal bonds to finance its renovation of the property.

According to previous brochures, 7801 Nieman Rd was built in 1998 and sits on nearly 11 acres of land in the Nieman Business Park. The two-story building totals 175,737 sq ft (16,300 sqm).
