Microsoft's vice president of energy has left the company.

Brian Janous ended his 12 tenure at the company, just a month after he was promoted to the position from GM of energy & renewables.

"I will dearly miss the opportunity to work alongside so many talented people on a daily basis," Janous said in a LinkedIn post. "Yet in this season for me and my family, it's time for me to take some time off and consider what might be next. I don't know exactly what that will be."

Insider first reported on an internal email disclosing the departure, where Aditya Dalmia, Microsoft's CVP of cloud infrastructure and planning said that "Brian was the first employee on the Energy team and with his passion and dedication established a thriving Energy function and Industry leading team setting us up for success and continued growth."

The publication also noted that at least six other senior leaders have left the Cloud Operations and Innovations team within the past year.

Last year, DCD reported on the departure of senior Azure employees including Azure's corporate VP and head of global infrastructure, the vice president of global data center construction at Microsoft, Azure's IoT corporate vice president, Microsoft's vice president of Cloud Infrastructure Lease and M&A, and Cortana's cofounder.
