Meta’s head of Energy, Urvi Parekh, has left her position at the company.

Meta and others have thrown their backing behind experimental geothermal projects as energy demand from AI continues to rise
In a LinkedIn post, Parekh said: “In early March, I made the decision to leave my head of energy role at Meta after nearly 10 years.”
As head of the hyperscaler's energy unit, Parekh oversaw a number of high-profile procurement deals, ranging from large-scale nuclear partnerships to next-generation geothermal deals.
In her post reflecting on her time at the company, Parekh said: “Meta’s success was enabled by partners across utilities, developers, and technology companies. The partnerships drove more than 28GW of clean energy and [the] achievement of Meta's 100 percent clean energy goal in 2020. The 7.7GW of nuclear partnerships is a reflection of what Meta does best - bring boldness and voice to important tables. The talented energy leaders at Meta will carry forward driving impact, and I feel gratitude for being a part of the journey of that team for the last decade.”
The company has not formally announced her departure, and has yet to indicate it is looking for a replacement. DCD has reached out for further information.
Prior to joining Meta, Parekh held positions at SunPower and Sentech.
