Irish construction firm Mercury Engineering is preparing to create 1,000 new roles over the next five years.
One of Europe's largest data center builders, the company operates in 16 markets, including data center hotspots such as France, Ireland, and the Nordics.
“Our aim is to attract the best talent, ensure seamless onboarding, and integrate them into our winning culture,” said Mercury’s chief executive, Eoin Vaughan, in a company announcement.
Mercury currently employs more than 2,500 people and, according to its latest accounts, had close to €1.6 billion ($1.66bn) in revenues last year and a pre-tax profit of €81.53 million ($84.74m).
“Mercury understands that our people are crucial to our growth, and we will continue to invest in their skills and development,” said Vaughan.
The company has had an active 2024, delivering three data centers, two in Frankfurt and one in Paris.
In November, it delivered Equinix’s FR13 data center in Frankfurt, Germany. The facility spans 5,295 sqm (57,000 sq ft) with a total capacity of 7.75MW across two data halls on three floors.
Before this, in March, it delivered the second phase of Global Switch’s Frankfurt North data center, adding a further 11,860 sq m (128,000 sq ft) to the existing campus.
In addition, earlier this year, Mercury delivered a 19MW PAR9 data center to Digital Realty in Paris. Mercury is also the main contractor for the rest of the expansion at Digital Realty’s PAR10 and PAR11 sites, which comprise the company’s Paris Digital Park.
