Construction work on a second data center on Global Switch’s campus in Frankfurt, Germany, is complete.
Mercury Engineering, the project's main contractor, announced the delivery of the new data center, Frankfurt North, to Global Switch this week.
Frankfurt North adds 14MVA of utility power supply capacity to Global Switch’s Frankfurt campus.
The initial phase, in 2019, saw the build of an 11,860 sqm (128,000 sq ft) data center located adjacent to the existing Global Switch data center, Frankfurt South. The campus now totals more than 29,550 sqm (319,000 sq ft).
The second and final phase of the project involved the installation of transformers and RMUs, battery rooms, LV switch rooms, and the complete fit-out of mechanical cooling infrastructure, such as hybrid dry coolers and CRAH units.
The company says the Frankfurt North building - spanning three data floors - has been verified by CBRE to deliver an annualized PUE at full load of 1.11 and operates to Tier III quality.
Brian Collins, business unit lead for Mercury’s Data Centre & Building Services Division (DCBS) division, said: “At Mercury, we deliver our clients’ vision through leading-edge construction solutions. Our commitment to the client puts them at the center of everything and positions Mercury as a strategic partner.”
Earlier this year, Mercury delivered a 19MW data center in Paris to Digital Realty and also completed the fit-out of Colt DCS’ data center less than a mile away, in Frankfurt, in August last year.
London-based Global Switch is reportedly considering the sale of its Australia data centers and has long been locked in negotiations with EQT about its wider portfolio.
