Vantage Towers will appoint Martin Bouchard as its new CEO, effective May 1, 2026.

Bouchard, currently CEO of American Tower Germany, will replace interim CEO Nicolas Mahler.

Mahler took the position in September after then-CEO Christian Hillabrandt joined US tower firm Crown Castle. In May, Mahler will return to his role as CFO.

Bouchard has been CEO of ATC Germany since April 2023. He's spent more than 25 years in the telecoms industry, spending most of his career at Deutsche Telekom, including four years at its subsidiary Deutsche Funkturm.

"I'm convinced that he will provide valuable strategic impetus for the further development of Vantage Towers," said Mahler.

Vantage Towers operates 88,000 tower sites across 10 European countries. The company's portfolio of sites includes towers, masts, rooftop sites, distributed antenna systems (DAS), and small cells.

The tower company was established in 2020 by Vodafone as a spin-off of its network infrastructure assets.

In 2022, Vodafone sold off some of its Vantage Towers unit, creating a new joint venture with KKR and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) called Oak Holdings. Oak Holdings today owns an 89 percent stake in Vantage Towers, while Vodafone now owns 50 percent of Oak Holdings.
