Malaysian property developer Mah Sing is looking for a data center partner after its exclusivity agreement with Bridge Data Centres (Bridge DC) expired.

The agreement, which expired yesterday after being signed a year prior, would have seen the pair develop a 200MW data center on a 35.68-acre land parcel.

The facility would have been situated in the 150-acre Mah Sing Data Center Hub, which is a part of an urban development called Southville City located in the town of Bangi, Selangor.

Selangor, a western state on Peninsular Malaysia, contains the Klang Valley, which is Malaysia's second-largest data center market by capacity and its colocation hub.

Mah Sing is currently looking for another suitor, and it has stated that it is willing to explore potential “joint ventures, build-to-lease arrangements, or outright land sales with interested data center operators.”

Bridge DC also backed out of another exclusivity agreement with Mah Sing in May, which would have seen the pair develop a 100MW project also located in Southville City.

It is unclear why Bridge DC has backed out of these agreements. DCD has reached out for comment.

The Bain Capital-owned Bridge DC is one of the largest data center players in Malaysia and the APAC region.

It operates two facilities in Cyberjaya with a third in development, and launched a data center outside Johor in 2022. It announced plans for the first 16MW building at its MY03 site in Kuala Lumpur’s Mranti Park in 2021 and announced an expansion last year.
