KPMG International’s Indian branch has launched a data center in the World Trade Center, Bangalore, it said will help it capitalize on the strong skills sets on offer in India.

The enterprise data center is part of a larger India Technology Center that will be used by KPMG to innovate on its IT solutions and house its business applications.

According to KPMG Global Chairman Michael J Andrew, the data center has been built to offer high computing capacity for complex solutions ranging from Business Intelligence to governance, risk and compliance and data analytics.

It will also contain a zone that will be used by KPMG to highlight its technological solutions to clients under a global program that brings together KPMG’s advisory services including tax, compliance and regulatory and performance reporting.

“Our decision to locate the center in Bangalore is complimented by the wealth of relevant talent and strong educational facilities will be key in growing this center,” Andrew said.

KPMG’s new data center houses enterprise class solutions from the likes of Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, Primavera, Business Intelligence and Siebel.

In April last year, KPMG said it was consolidating 30 European data centers into one in Frankfurt, to form a private cloud that will service all European KPMG users.

KPMG has also gained attention for its data center activities in the US. Last year it received an award from the US Environmental Protection Agency for its use of co-generation to provide for almost half of its data center energy use in Montvale, New Jersey.

Bangalore has also been attracting a lot of attention in the data center market. Yesterday it was announced that Tulip Telecom had opened the world’s third largest data center - .9m sq ft.
