Japan's Daibiru Corp will invest in India’s data center business, according to the Economic Times.
Daibiru is an owner and leaser of properties. It is a subsidiary of Japanese business conglomerate Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), which is itself a member of the Mitsui keiretsu.
General manager at MOL India Yoshihiro Hiraki told the Economic Times that the company “would now like to diversify, and data centers are a business we are very keen on.”
Hiraki added that MOL could also invest in residential projects, but that it is not exploring warehousing.
It is unclear how much money MOL would invest.
Daibiru has already invested almost INR 2,000 crore ($226m) in two office buildings in Gurugram, which is southwest of New Delhi, and Chennai, capital of the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The Gurugram project, called the Atrium Palace Project, is set to complete construction by December 2025.
India is home to several fast-growing data center markets that are clustered around its main metropolitan areas, including Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi.
